I can’t wait for Monday!

Say what? Those aren’t usually words one hears, but something exciting is starting on Monday:

That’s right! I signed up for Wilton 1 Cake Decorating at my local Michaels* and it starts this Monday! Let the cake obsession continue!

If you could take a random fun course through your local craft store/continuing education place, what course would you take?

*For the record, having cake decorating classes is pretty much one of the only redeeming features of Michaels. NEVER go there to get a picture framed, it’s not worth the three agonizing hours.

  1. Um, AWESOME. I am totally freaking jealous. You have to post pictures of your work!!!

Aside from now not being able to get to a grocery store, the other big regret I have of not having a car next year is that I can’t get around to things like this. Yes, I’m in the lab 80+ hours/week, which leaves minimal time for outside activities, but once a month or so it would be fun to sign up for some kind of class — a cooking class at Sur La Table or a baking class at Williams-Sonoma or something — since I will have all this alone time with Husband gone, but it takes so much longer to get places on public transportation, and excess time is one thing I am lacking!

  2. Oh that looks like so much fun. I second taking lots of pictures.

I couldn’t be trusted in a fancy class like that, I’d probably cover myself in more colors than are possible and then start eating the tasty frosting. Or possibly swear up a storm at fondant.

People keep pitching that I should go take a painting class but I am a bit hesitant as a lot of it depends on the instructor and how open they are. Plus I’m no where near good enough for a class yet.

Yay for you! I third the request/order for pictures!

I would really love to learn Italian. I actually looked into it yesterday, but the closest cont ed. place is only offering intermediate Italian next session. I guess they must only offer one level at a time.

  5. One of these days I want to take a basic cooking class. As in, I would like to know how to deal with dinner time and how to organize all of it so making a meal is not an adventure in anxiety each night.

As it is I usually “make” macaroni and cheese, hot dogs or chicken nuggets. Unless I’m being crazy and then I’ll throw a frozen pizza in the oven.
