I don’t have time to write a full post because I need to get to bed, but I wanted to show you a glimpse of my first Wilton cake:
More pictures to come once my camera’s battery is charged!

Ooh very colorful. That’s some amazing piping work there.
If I had to do it, it’d look like the telly tubbies got sick all over the place.
It looks so fluffy! I am amazed!
Happy cake! Love it 🙂
Wow! Both this and the polka dot one look amazing!
This is so fun watching your cake progress. It actually makes me feel like I’ve done something, when all I’ve done is read your posts. Thanks for making me feel accomplished!
So cute. I wonder how long it takes you to make/frost these?

Thank you all for your lovely comments!
Rae – making the cake itself generally takes about 30 minutes plus cooking time. I usually let them cool for a couple of hours before frosting them. Frosting can take anywhere from 15 minutes (making and frosting) for really basic stuff to an hour or two. I spent about 1 1/2 hours decorating this cake and about 45 minutes on the polka dot cake. If I had to make more fondant, it would have taken a lot longer!
