The New ‘Do

Last night, I did something that I’ve never done before: I got my hair dyed! I debated doing it myself, but I didn’t want my hair to turn into a lovely green colour by my own account. Plus, I wasn’t very certain about my colour matching skills. I also got it cut, for it was desperately needing it.

Before I show you pictures, I am going to give you a bit of a story about my hair. I started getting white hair when I was 14 years old. Since I really liked (and still like) my natural hair colour, I wanted to put off dyeing it for as long as possible. However, with the advent of certain events, I wanted to feel better about myself and my hair.

I do think it’s really cute, but the bangs are a bit too short (thank goodness hair grows!)

What do you think?

It’s off to Banff for me…

This afternoon Mr. Bean and I are heading out to Banff for his work Christmas Party. I’m pretty excited for Banff is such a cute town, except that it’s going to be bloody cold. There are lots of cute shops in Banff and there are two amazing candy stores: one for any type of candy you want and the other for the BEST fudge ever. Seriously, on our honeymoon we bought so much fudge from this place – it probably was the reason that I gained the weight I did.

But the party is a dinner, dance and an overnight stay at the Banff Park Lodge. (Not quite the Banff Springs Hotel, but that’s okay – and easier on our wallets, too!) This means that we get to dress up, so I’ll definitely be taking pictures for all of you! 🙂

To put ourselves in the holiday spirit, we had eggnog french toast, mandarin oranges and bacon for breakfast.

Eggnog French Toast

For every about 1/4 cup of eggnog, add one egg. You can also add some cinnamon/nutmeg if so desired. Pour into flat dish with sides (ie. plastic containers work great) and soak bread with egg mixture.  Cook in frying pan or on a griddle until egg is set. Serve with jam/syrup/marmalade/whatever you heart desires.

Snow Day!

It’s Snowday in the Blog-o-sphere as hosted by Sabrina!

I would have really liked to have gone skating, cross country skiing or snowshoeing, but I’m too busy in the hot tub. Considering the weather we’ve had recently, I definitely think that I need warming up, like this poor mountain goat!

Snowflake’d!

Guess what? I’ve been snowflaked, by Sabrina of the Introverted Wife:

Thank you, Sabrina! It’s very appropriate given one of my previous experiences and what the weather looks like outside:

We’ve been under a “winter weather watch” for the last while and EMS and the city have strongly encouraged people to stay off the roads and stay warm. Currently it’s -23C with a -35C with windchill (-9.4 F and -31F respectively) and it’s only supposed to get colder this week. Sounds like a good weekend to snuggle up with Mr. Bean, hey?

What are you plans for this weekend?
